LPU organises Spring Flower Show, 600 varieties put on display

The School of Agriculture of Lovely Professional University (LPU) organised a two-day ‘Spring Flower Show-2019’ on its campus, today. The show-cum-competition is open for individuals; amateurs; government, semi-government; private institutions; organisations; self-help groups; and nurseries.
LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal inaugurated the flower show. During the show, as many as 600 floral and plant variety under 97 sections of 9 categories, including—flower arrangement; cut flowers; flower-ornaments; flowers grown in pots; Bonsai;, landscape; plant as gift; Cacti and Succulents’; will be showcased during the event.
Trees like pipal, neem, banyan are also there, which are preserved in miniature forms. Seen in very small pots, these trees are in their exact forms by planting age-old grown overhead roots of these trees. LPU School of Agriculture guided students to grow pulses, organic and fiber crops, hybrid plants, fruits and vegetables in modern hygienic ways.
Renowned personalities from the allied fields are the judges for the competitions.
Head of the department of agriculture Dr Ramesh Sadavarti said this time high-spirited participation was also made by Government Horticulture Departments of Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur districts; Punjab Technical University Kapurthala; Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala; Garden Boutique; SSM Self Help Group; Passion Garden; Falcon Garden Tools; KMV College Jalandhar; and many other institutions.
