LPU students’ short films adjudged best at Dadasaheb Phalke Film Fest

Celebrating excellence in cinema, India’s most prestigious annual 9th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival-2019 recognised the cinematic works of Lovely Professional University (LPU).

Students of LPU have been honoured for their excellence in special festival mention category. LPU students’ short film ‘Mantle’, ‘Ittar’ and animation short film ‘Nostalgia’ are adjudged excellent over all other entries from across the country and 50 other countries, in the students’ category.

Fest’s chief advisor Dr DC Singh and festival director Rambhul Singh distributed trophies and certificates among LPU students.

Asinty Jagdish, who is a student of mechanical engineering and hails from Vishakhapatnam, has been declared as the best director of photography and cinematography. He is also the director for award winning short film ‘Leader’.

Sahil Mawle is the producer for students’ production house ‘Holidays’ castle.

LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated the winners for achieving the distinction.

Asinty Jagdish said: “I am glad that my university inspired me and other students to participate in the event. No doubt, our team members hail from different parts of the country, but our creativity never knew any boundary.”

He said: “The festival celebrates the cinema and works of aspiring, young, independent and professional film-makers. Film fraternity across the country and world organized the event on April 30 each year to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of Indian Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke.
