Major fire erupts at rubber factory

Jalandhar, June 22

A major fire today erupted at a rubber factory in Booty Enclave at Basti Bawa Khel here in the city. Though no causalities reported, fire has caused a huge damage to the building and also to a printing press located on top of the factory.

Rajinder Sharma, Sub Fire officer, said the incident was reported at around 4:45 am. “The fire was so huge that 8 fire tenders that reached to the spot had to make around ten rounds each to fill their water tanks and dose the flames,” said Sharma. He said it seems that the fire was caused due to a short circuit.

Proprietor Manvinder Singh said no loss of material is reported in the incident. “Only the scrap got destroyed in the fire,” said Singh. Sources have also informed that the building was neither insured and the owner has not even taken an NOC from the fire department.
