The Police Division No. 8 today nabbed a man with 4 kg of charas, who was on his way to supply the contraband to his clients in the region.
The accused was identified as Harinder Sahni (45), son of Mebbo Sahni, a resident of Ijjra village in Motihari district, Bihar. He was presently living in Reru.
Station house officer Bimal Kant Sharma said acting on a tip-off, cops intercepted the man carrying a bag and during checking, the police recovered 4 kg of charas. The accused had concealed the charas in a way that it looked like something else.
The SHO said when the policemen were checking the bag, the accused told them that he was carrying some fruits, but thorough checking by cops led to the recovery of drugs.
During interrogation, the accused told the police that he had been buying consignment of drugs from Nepal and was a frequent visitor to Nepal. “We have been inquiring about the persons from whom Harinder was buying charas from Nepal. After seeking his police remand, more recoveries are expected,” said Sharma.
The accused was mainly supplying drugs to migrant labourers, adding that the police were also inquiring about the local clients to expose the entire supply line of the accused.
A case under the NDPS Act was registered.
