Man duped of Rs 2 lakh in foreign currency

Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Kadiana village in Adampur was duped of foreign currency worth Rs 2 lakh near Namdev Chowk today.

Jaswinder, who is into the money exchange business, had pounds meant for exchange, to do shopping for his cousin sister’s marriage.

According to him, after getting down from a bus he took an auto-rickshaw from the bus stand to Jyoti Chowk.

He claimed that though the money in his pocket was there when he boarded the auto-rickshaw, it was not there when he reached Namdev Chowk.

The police have rounded up another passenger, who was sitting next to Jaswinder, on the basis of suspicion.

The police have also claimed to have witnessed some of his suspicious moves after getting down from the auto-rickshaw, which were captured on a CCTV camera installed at the chowk. — TNS
