Man kills sister-in-law, hurts wife and mother-in-law

A man injured his wife and mother-in-law seriously and killed his sister-in-law in a bizarre incident, which took place at Raipur Ballan village here today.

Ashok Kumar (38), a resident of the Laddehwali area here, came today to his in-laws’ house in Raipur Ballan village and attacked his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law with a sharp-edged weapon. An FIR has been lodged against Ashok Kumar under Sections 324, 307 and 302 of the IPC.

While his sister-in-law Raj Rani (32) was killed in the incident, his wife Jaswinder Kaur (36) and mother-in-law Chann Kaur (60) received serious injuries. After the incident, the man consumed a poisonous substance himself.

While Ashok Kumar and Jaswinder Kaur had been married 13 years ago, the police said the man acted in a fit of rage today owing to a simmering domestic dispute between them for a long time.

SHO, Maqsudan police station, Baljinder Singh said, “While the injured were also taken to hospital, including the man, the sister-in-law couldn’t be saved due to having received fatal injuries. While the couple were having a dispute for a long time, the exact cause of the fit of rage today is being ascertained. The injured are under treatment at a private hospital.”
