With a passion of becoming a beautician , she took admission in a short-term cosmetology course in the institute in April 2017 . This course helped her to open her own salon in Harnamdaspura area that made her financially independent. “These courses have become an asset for unemployed youth like us who are uncertain about their career and looking for employment,” said Nancy.

Similarly, many youngsters had taken the benefit of the courses and earned a livelihood for them.

The RUDSET has now become a hub of young unemployed people who are getting free of cost training in various short-term skill- development courses like cosmetology, electrician, software analysts, mobile and other electronics items repair and driving, hence securing a career for them.

Jagdish Kumar, Director of the institute, said, “ Besides these job- oriented courses these unemployed youth are also given behavioural aspect training and the motivational guidance help them remain focused in life. Annual action plans help them to keep the training directional and job-oriented.”

Since its inception in December 2007, the institute has trained more than 8,000 persons, out of which 5,683 have secured good jobs, he added.

Moreover, these courses are accomplishing the “Ghar Ghar Naukri” mission of the state government.

Harsh (29), who daily commutes from Phagwara and sharpening his skills in cosmetology and planning to start his own business said , “ The institute is proving to be a great asset for unemployed youth like us to make our future secure.”

Lately, Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, also acknowledged the institute for empowering the youth, especially the needy and underprivileged, by imparting them quality training through such free of cost courses.
