Missing youth’s body found near Karnal

Sonam Gupta (17), a resident of Baba Gadhia, Phagwara, who had been missing under mysterious circumstances since March 2 evening, was allegedly found murdered in bushes near Karnal this evening.

Sources said the family of the deceased had informed the Phagwara police about the matter. The family was shocked when the Karnal police broke the news to it on phone. The Karnal police said the body was found in bushes and two bottles of kerosene and a bag were found lying near the body. It was assumed that the killers might have tried to burn the body after killing Sonam and throwing the body in bushes. A police party has been sent to Karnal to bring back the body.

1 held for drug peddling

The police have arrested an alleged drugs peddler, identified as Raman Kumar, a resident of Ranipur Rajpootan village and recovered 22 intoxicant injection from his possession on Saturday. A case has been registered.
