Ahead of Diwali, an emergency response drill was organised at Indian Oil Petroleum terminal at Suchi Pind in Jalandhar today. The drill was witnessed by Deputy Director of Factories Dwarka Das.

Amongst other dignitaries who participated in the drill as per the roles in emergency response disaster management plan were PJS Sahota (District Revenue Officer), Jatinder Kalsi (terminal I/C BPCL), Pankaj Garg (terminal I/C HPCL), NM Nimje (LPG plant manager IOCL), and Ajay Pahuja (pipeline I/C IOCL).

Being the MAH category of factory, the emergency response drill has to be conducted bi-annually to rehearse the emergency handling capabilities and test the preparedness for handling emergency situations.

Apart from regular monthly in-house drills, emergency response drill is conducted with active participation of all District Administration, adjoining industries, police and fire officer.

The drill was conducted under the leadership of the CTM, Jalandhar, HS Minhas, along with participation of all the employees of the IOCL terminal. Fire fighting was brilliant due to the co-ordinated efforts of the team and upkeep of the fire fighting equipments as noted by the external observers during post drill deliberations.
