Noted Punjabi short story writer Mohan Lal Phillauria will be honoured with ‘Kewal Vig Award’ of the year 2019 for his stories on caste inequality as the best writer and Harphool Singh, who penned down so many ‘ghazals’ and songs in Punjabi literature, will be honoured as the best poet, respectively.
Mohan Lal Phillauria is a writer of five books with greater conviction and aggression and is dedicated to present actual situation of the Dalits. His works put together true life experiences, whose anthology of short stories ‘Mochi da Put’ trails the lives of cobblers, whose generations are condemned to abject poverty.
Harphool Singh’s ‘ghazals’ are sung by many singers. He has written two books of ‘ghazals’. Both will get citations, momentos and shawls for their exemplary contributions.
In a press release, Jatinder Mohan Vig, chairman, Kewal Vig Foundation, said Kewal Vig Memorial Award was instituted since 1994, in the memory of Kewal Vig, Founder Editor of Punjabi magazine ‘Janta Sansar’. On every death anniversary of Kewal Vig, these awards are presented.
The presentation ceremony of this year will be held on December 4 at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall. It is mentioned that 55 personalities of literature had already been recipients of this award so far.
Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, DGP, Armed Battalions, Punjab, will be the chief guest on the occasion. Kulwant Singh, ADC, Ramesh Chander, Ambassador-IFS (retd), Harsimranjeet Singh Bunty, Deputy Mayor, Chetan Singh, Director Language Department (retd), Rachhpal Singh Pal Punjabi poet (Rafi on Punjab) will be the special guests of honour.
