Students of Eklavya School were shown a movie, ‘I am Kalam’, on the school campus, based on the life of former President late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who was admired by everyone. The students were inspired after seeing such a movie in which a child takes Dr APJ Abdul Kalam as his role model as he was intelligent and peace-loving person. All students enjoyed watching the movie and learnt a lot to achieve success in life. Director of the school Seema Handa said such movies should be shown to the children and it could help them to achieve great heights. Manager of the school Sapna Bakshi and principal Dimpal Sharma said such movies act as inspiration for children.
Talent carnival
A talent carnival was held at the Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, to enhance the overall personality of its students. In the carnival, students participated in items like elocution, debate, poetic symposium, ghazal, folk songs, Sufi items, western performance, percussion, non-percussion, tracking/mixing, collage, cartooning, photography, sculpture, phulkari and rangoli. Singer Master Saleem graced the occasion with his presence. Principal Sucharita welcomed Master Saleem and said such eminent personalities always work as beacon of inspiration for the aspiring artistes. She also appreciated the efforts of all participants and encouraged them to soar high in their respective fields.
Training in yoga
A four-week training in Yoga has been started by the Vedic Research centre of Kanya Maha Vidyaya. The programme was inaugurated by district adviser of Bhartiya Yoga Sansthan, Prof Dr. Vinod Kumar, who is teaching psychology at the city BEd College, and Anu from the Punjabi Department of the same college. In the inaugural session on the first day, Dr Vinod talked about meaning of Yoga and its history. He also talked about the role of yoga and mental and physical health. This was followed by an interactive session in which many queries related to yoga were answered. Special significance of daily diet was also explained. On the next day with the chanting of Vedic hymns the workshop began. Afterwards, various asanas were taught. The importance of breathing exercises like Anulom-Vilom and the importance was also explained. For the last two year Yogabhayas has been a regular feature at KMV and with the blessings of God the institution hopes to carry this healthy tradition into the future also. Praising the workshop Principal Professor Atima Sharma Dwivedi observed that yoga is an excellent source of mental and physical health. — TNS
