MP Chaudhary distributes health e-cards among beneficiaries

Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh and Jalandhar Central MLA Rajinder Beri today launched the ‘Ayushman Bharat-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna’ by distributing health e-cards to beneficiaries during a function held at the Red Cross Bhawan here.

In Jalandhar, 2.91 lakh families are entitled to cashless treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh at various empanelled hospitals.

Addressing a gathering, the MP said the eCards were being issued to the beneficiaries for cashless treatment under 1,396 packages and secondary and tertiary treatment would be fully covered under it.

He said the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) families as per the Socio-Economic Caste Census (2011), the Blue Card holder families, those farmers who had been issued J-Forms by the Punjab Mandi Board and their family members, traders registered with the Excise and Taxation Department and construction workers registered with the construction worker’s welfare board and all journalists accredited to the state government or holding yellow cards would be eligible under the scheme.

The MP said those eligible could get their eCard generated through a network of 100 Common Service Centres across the district at Rs 30 and the same service could be obtained from the government hospitals in the district free of cost.

Civil Surgeon Gurinder Kaur Chawla said services could be taken from 14 government health institutions and 20 private hospitals — Mahajan Eye Hospital and Maternity Home, Aastha Hospital, Third Eye Hospital, Arora Eye Hospital and Retina Centre, Goel Kidney Care, ALTIS Multispecialty Hospital, Oxford Hospital Private Limited, HP Orthocare Hospital, Akal Eye Hospital, Satyam Hospital and Trauma Centre, Vasal Hospital Private Limited, Sangha Eye Hospital, Mann Mediciti Hospital, Shakuntala Devi Vig Hospital, Central Hospital & Maternity Home, Capitol Hospital, Vedanta Multispecialty Hospital, Duggal Eye Hospital, Apex Hospital & Maternity Home and PMG Children Hospital.

She said 40 more private hospitals had shown interest in getting empanelled under the scheme and their names were under consideration of the government.

Jalandhar Central MLA Rajinder Beri, SDM-II Paramvir Singh, Medical Superintendent Mandeep Kaur, Assistant Civil Surgeon Gurmeet Kaur Duggal, Deputy Medical Commissioner Harpreet Kaur Mann and DFWO Surinder Kumar were also present.

Benefits provided by insurance scheme

  • The scheme provides health insurance cover of Rs 5 Lakh per family per year. 
  • It would cover 2.91 lakh families in Jalandhar district.
  • Beneficiaries can avail health services at empanelled private and government hospitals of Punjab and Chandigarh.
