National seminar
Jalandhar: DAV College under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) will organise a two-day national seminar on ‘Academic and Administrative Audit in Higher Education’ from Thursday. The objective of the seminar is to enhance the quality of higher education, internal and external audit in higher education, innovations and best practices in higher education. College Principal Dr SK Arora said Sarvesh Kaushal, Special Chief Secretary-cum-Director General, MGSIPA, would be the chief guest and deliver the inaugural address. Dr Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, GNDU, will be the chief guest on January 20. He will deliver the valedictory address. Dr Dinesh Arora, coordinator, IQAC, said several professors and principals of various universities and colleges would read their research papers. TNS
Seminar on stock exchange
Jalandhar: The Commerce Department of the Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised a one-day seminar on stock exchange here. The seminar was held in collaboration with the ICICI Centre of Financial Learning. Rakesh Sharma, regional marketing manager, ICICI Securities, was the resource person. College Principal Dr Sucharita Sharma said it was important for the commerce students to keep abreast of the continuous flux in the stock exchange. TNS
Industrial visit
Jalandhar: The Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions organised an industrial visit for its hotel management students to Taj Hotel in Chandigarh. During the visit, Assistant Professor Anubhav Sachdeva and Assistant Professor Arashdeep Singh accompanied the students and guided them about the importance and need for the industrial visit. Kushagra Sharma, training manager, explained to the students the working of different department and the functioning of various departments. TNS
Jaspreet bags silver
Jalandhar: Jaspreet Singh, an engineering student, of the Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering won a silver medal in a weightlifting competition organised by Punjab Body Lifting Association in Amritsar. Jaspreet participated in the 55 kilogram weight category. Sukhbir Singh Chatha, Director, Academic Affairs, KCL Group of Institutes, and Dr YS Randhawa, Director, Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering, congratulated the student. TNS
