Jalandhar, September 26

Having contested as an Independent candidate in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha elections earlier this year and came into the limelight after he wept over the poor results outside the poll counting centre, Neetu Shattran Wala has announced that he and his family would contest all four seats during the Assembly bypolls next month.

Neetu had already announced that he would contest as an Independent candidate from Phagwara, but now he has said that his sister would contest the Mukerian seat, his wife the Dakha and mother the Jalalabad seat. Interestingly, while he had got attention for his comments that even his family had not voted for him in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha polls, he has this time confided in his family members and is gearing up to field them all.

Giving a reason for the same, Neetu says, “We have always seen that a big leader pushes his wife, brother or son into electioneering. So, I thought that even a simple, poor man can do the same and bring his family into political limelight. No politician visited me when my daughter was killed in a road accident last month. Politicians do not have a heart for the poor.”
