New Cambridge schools and play schools in 2017
The Learning Wings Education Systems (LWES), the managing body of Cambridge Schools, Jalandhar, on Wednesday announced the launch of four K-12 schools and four playschools in 2017. In the session starting from April 2017, LWES will start operation of schools in Patti, Gurdaspur, Sultanpur Lodhi, Mohali. The school also announced expansion plans for 2018. In a press meet, LWES Management represented by Ajay Bhatia, chairman, Deepak Bhatia, deputy chairman, Dr Brijesh Kumar, CEO and Nitin Kohli, director, JK Kohli, senior executive director and Deepa Dogra, chief academic officer announced the launch of a high quality school app which will enable better connectivity between school communities of students, teachers and parents. The app is in collaboration with top educational technology providers and will be operational in a week’s time. Tablet-supported teaching-learning in middle and secondary schools is on the anvil. The management announced that to enhance ability and excellence of learners, super achiever’s scholarship tests would be held in the 22 January next year at Cambridge International Schools, Jalandhar. Any student scoring above 80 per cent in aggregate in pre-boards for Class X and having a record of participation in co-scholastic areas may apply for scholarship in Class XI. Scholarship includes school fee waiver, free placement guidance and training at Canadian and other universities. Special scholarship for girls who have excelled in sports or any other co-scholastic area is also part of support for all round development of students.
Microsoft School

Maths project
Students of GNFGS were given a hands-on experience of maths project related to buying and selling, profit concept, ratio and proportion and weights. On Tuesday, a field trip for students of Classes VI and VII was organised for buying food material to be used in preparation of “bhelpuri”. On Wednesday, students set up a bhelpuri stall and sold each plate for Rs 10 to all students and learnt profit and profit per cent concept. Principal Monika Khanna and other staff members also bought bhelpuri from the stall.
Faculty Development Programme
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, held a faculty development programme on “teaching methodology and research guidance’” which was organised by the PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration. Resource persons for the programme were Dr Balwinder Singh and Dr Mahesh Joshi. The key-note address was delivered by Dr Mahesh Joshi, presently teaching at the School of Accounting (RIMT), Australia. He began his address by saying that at RIMT the focus was on producing literate individuals who were not only work ready but also life-ready. Dr Balwinder Singh from Guru Nanak Dev University, presently National Secretary, ICA, elaborated on the importance of learning new things from everything around us. He exhorted all to have faith in their own unique abilities. Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi, expressed gratitude towards the resource persons for sparing their time and knowledge to spread better awareness amongst the teaching faculty.
International Mountain Day celebrated
Eklavya School celebrated the “International Mountain Day” on its premises. December 11 was marked as “International Mountain Day” was by the United Nations General Assembly in 2003. The General Assembly encouraged the international community to organise events at all levels to highlight the importance of sustainable mountain development. The importance of mountains was highlighted in the Assembly. Class II students made beautiful landscapes depicting mountains. Director Seema Handa, manager Sapna Bakshi and principal Dimpal Sharma appreciated the initiative taken to highlight the importance of mountains.
Christmas article making activity organised
To celebrate the Christmas festival and commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, Nobel School organised Christmas article making activity. Students from Classes I to V participated in the activity. Separate topics were given to students of each class. The topic for Class I was “Santa caps”, for Class II was “Christmas bells”, for Class III was “Christmas stars”, for Class IV “Snowman”, and for Class V was Santa Claus. Students will decorate classes with their handmade articles.
