The NRI claims to have helped bodies of as many as 117 youths who died in France and other neighbouring countries reach their families in Punjab in the past nearly 14 years. He alleged that the bodies of some Punjabis were still lying in European countries and the state and the Centre must assist his organisation in paper work.

Bhatti also said that as many as 268 addicted Punjabis had been brought back home, for which the immigration wings of France and Indian embassy had been of great help. He added that 23 Punjabis were languishing in jails of Poland, for the release of whom, he had been making attempts. He showed pictures of four more Doaba-based youths, including Gurmukh and Paramjit Singh Pammi of Hoshiarpur, Harjinder Singh, aka Jinda, of Kapurthala and Ravinder, aka Kashmir, of Nawanshahr, who have died there. “Our teams are still in the process of arranging for sending their bodies from there back home.”
