Jalandhar, March 6
To mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, an on-the-spot poster and painting competition was held at Guru Nanak Dev University, regional campus here today.
Students from various departments participated in the event. The theme for the competition was –‘Life and times of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’. Keeping the theme in mind, the participants made posters and paintings related to Guru’s life and teachings.
Dr Deep Kamal Randhawa, from the department of engineering and Dr Varinder Singh, of the department of Laws were the judges of the event.
Harshdeep Kaur, stood first. Palak Bansal, and Harleen Kaur, won the second and third prize respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jyoteesh Malhotra, AASW, thanked the students and told that the lessons taught by the guru had relevance in the present times as well.
He encouraged the students to inculcate the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev in their lives.
