Delay in payment to cane growers flayed

Phagwara, July 17

Bhartiya Kisan Union has again threatened to intensify their stir if owners of the Phagwara sugar mills do not clear the payments of cane growers which were lying pending since January 6, 2019.

This was announced by the BKU leader Amrik Singh after a meeting, that was held with the management of sugar mills Phagwara.

He said: The owners of the sugar mills have expressing their helplessness to release the dues as neither the rates of the sugar are increased nor the state government has deposited Rs 25 per quintal of sugar in the bank accounts of the farmers.”

Leaders of the farmers, including Tirth Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Sohan Lal, Surjit Singh and Robin Singh were also present.
