A dharna by non-teaching employees of HMV College and DAV College was held under the directions of Private College Non-Teaching Employees Union, Punjab (Aided and Unaided). The union demands were raised by Amarjit Khanna of the HMV unit.
He said their long-pending demands had not been fulfilled by the Punjab Government as non-teaching employees of government colleges had been granted a revised pay grade with effect from December 1, 2011, but the non-teaching employees of aided colleges still await such a notification. He also condemned the attitude of the Punjab Government in this regard.
Raman Behl, president of the HMV Unit, said the notification of the Punjab Government did not bother about their demands but the employees would boycott the Vidhan Sabha elections.
