Jalandhar, February 28
It seems that the sensitive centres with CCTV cameras have become the hub of cheating in Jalandhar. After two of the four cases of cheating being reported at the Adra Mann open centre on the first day of the XII board exams, the single case of cheating reported in the district is also from a centre with a CCTV camera.
One case of UMC (unfair means of copying) case was reported at the Kahlwan centre during the general Punjabi exam which was held in the district today. With this, of the five UMC cases reported in the district so far, three have been caught from centres with CCTV surveillance.
Adra Mann and Kahlwan are the only two centres where CCTV cameras have been installed to keep a check on cheating during the ongoing exams.
The case was caught by a flying squad led by Deputy DEO Elementary after he caught a student using a slip kept in his pant pocket to cheat during exam.
Various centres were also checked by four other flying squad teams in the district– which were led by the DEO Secondary Satnam Singh, DEO Elementary Rampal, Deputy DEO Secondary Anil Kumar and Principal Balkar Singh.
Controller of exams Jalandhar, Rajeev Joshi, said, “The exam was conducted largely in a smooth manner. The Kahlwan case is the only cheating case which has surfaced during the exam. Mostly these cases are only being reported at open schools.”
During the first exam of class XII boards, a total of four cheating cases were reported where two students were caught from the open centre at the Government High School (Boys) Mehatpur and the second at the Government High School Adra Mann. At the Adra Mann centre also,v two students were caught cheating using slips right under CCTV surveillance.
