Palvinder Pinda, a Jalandhar-based gangster who hatched the Nabha jail break conspiracy, was hired by another gangster Prem Loharia who wanted to set his gang members free, lodged in jail for killing another dreaded gangster and sharp-shooter Sukha Kahlawan from Jalandhar, said police sources.

The 27-year-old Palwinder Singh Pinda is a resident of Nihaluwal village in the Shahkot constituency of Jalandhar. Pinda was one of the accused in the killing of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurdev Singh at Haveli Dhaba in Jalandhar, back in April 2013. He was also associated with the Prem Lahoria gang whose members, including Harjinder Singh Gonder, Gurpreet Sekhon and Kuljinder Singh, alias Neeta Deol, killed Kahlwan.

Kahlwan had allegedly killed Navpreet Singh Lovely, a member of Jaipal’s gang. Jaipal, along with Shekon, began his criminal innings by working for the Shera Khuban gang.

As Lahoria wanted to set his other accomplice, including Sekhon and Deol, free from the Nabha jail who were lodged there after the murder of Kahlwan, he first planned Pinda’s escape from the Nabha jail earlier in March this year and later took his help to set his gang members free.

The Jalandhar police have been conducting numerous raids in the last two days at the residences of Prem Lahoria’s family and relatives at Nihaluwal village and even in other states as well to nab the absconding inmates of the Nabha jail. According to the UP police sources, it was Lahoria, who while posing as an ASI, landed at the gates of the Nabha jail and fired indiscriminately at the cops deployed on the gates.

Though Pinda has over eight cases registered against him in various police stations of Jalandhar, he came into limelight when he, along with his seven accomplices, shot dead ASI Gurdev Singh near Haveli.

Though he was arrested, he later managed to escape from the Civil Hospital, Nabha, in March this year with the support of Loharia.

Pinda’s name was also associated with the Jagdish Bhola gang involved in an international drug racket case.

Various cases pertaining to murder, robbery and also the NDPS Act were registered against him are at Kapurthala, Lohian, Jalandhar and Shahkit areas.

Pinda, a dreaded criminal, hailed from an ordinary farmer’s family. According to the Nihaluwal panchayat member Lakhwinder Kaur, his two brothers though aresettled abroad, his parents still reside at a dera inthe village.
