To commemorate the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev, Punjab and Haryana High Court lawyer Harpreet Sandhu has started the service to distribute free patkas (a small piece of cloth to cover the head) among devotees coming to the holy town.
Sandhu, who is also the vice-president of Sewa Sankalp Society, said he got the logo of the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev printed on the patkas. He said he observed during his recent visit that devotees were queuing up outside gurdwaras for getting patkas. Hence, he planned to start the service. The patkas of kesri colour had become a point of attraction among the sangat as a large number of devotees were seen wearing the same now. He also distributed the patkas during the start of sehaj path here.
Sandhu said he presented patkas to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and other delegate members from that state during their visit to Sultanpur Lodhi to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Ber Sahib.
The society is working on works with a mission to promote the preachings of the Guru and the significance of Gurdwara Ber Sahib.
