Members of the Pendu Mazdoor Union today held a protest at Dugri village as the official of Panchayat Department, Jalandhar West, failed to hold auction of panchayat land in the village.

The union also threatened to intensify their protest if the resolutions passed in general meeting of the village were considered by the panchayat department. They also demanded rights of landless labourers on Panchayat land. Pendu Mazdoor Union representative Kashmir Singh Ghugshor said the government has been indulging in tiny infrastructural development of the villages on the name of development. The government has failed to provide residential plots to the Dalits and landless labours.
