Khushal Singh, a student of Swami Sant Dass School in Phagwara, has bagged the 771st rank in the JEE Advanced examination whose result was declared here today.
Khushal credits his parents for his success. Having attained 94 pc marks in the CBSE class XII examination, Khushal is now eagerly waiting to give his preferences for the online counselling which is set to begin in two to three days.
His parents Mukhvinder Singh and Paramjit Kaur jointly run a family business in machine. Khushal also plans to eventually start a business of his own using his engineering expertise.
He aims to get into IIT Delhi with his rank.
Giving advice to budding students, Khushal said, “Students should not stress too much and give everything to their studies without getting distracted. It is bad both to get too carefree and also to totally become a bookworm. Students maintaining a balance between the two are most likely to get it right.”
Khushal, who studied for eight to nine hours a day, said his mantra was enjoy your studies.
Having topped the non-medical stream in Punjab in the class XII CBSE exams with 97.6 per cent marks, Naman Aggarwal, a student of Delhi Public School, Jalandhar, has bagged the 1,611 rank in the JEE (Advanced) exam in the district.
A student with an intellectual bent of mind, Naman idolises Albert Einstein and astrophysicist Richard Feyman who, he says, are his greatest inspiration.
Son of businessman Deepak Aggarwal and Aashma Aggarwal, a housewife, Naman credits his parents with ensuring a perfect environment for his studies and intellectual growth.
“Physics intensified my passion for space science. Since my childhood, I was interested in space science and read books on it. My experience with the study of the two subjects in high schools re-affirmed my faith that astrophysics is my calling. Films like Interstellar also increased my interest in it. It all depends on what happens in the JEE (Advanced),” he added.
Naman is also interested in studying mythology. “I often read the Ramayana and Mahabharata as these fascinate me,” Naman quipped.
Hoping to make it to IIT Mumbai, Kanpur or Chennai, Naman eventually wants to pursue PhD in astrophysics from a university abroad and dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer.
Anshul Suri, a student of MGN Public School, has bagged the 2,258 rank in the exam. While Anshul had initially aimed for IIT Delhi, he is rethinking his options after this ranking. Having got 93.6 per cent marks in class XII, Anshul credits his mother Renuka Suri and father Naveen Suri, a businessman in auto spare parts manufacture, for his success.
Lending advice to other students, Anhsul said students should always get after what they are interested in and never take up any stream under pressure.
Abhinav, a student of Innocent Hearts School, Jalandhar, has bagged the 3,099 rank in the examination.
