To mark the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, an SGPC-approved portrait of Gurdwara Ber Sahib was distributed in the form of parshad by the Sewa Sankalp Society’s vice-president Harpreet Sandhu along with Sultanpur MLA Lodhi Navtej Cheema and head granthi.
The event began with ardaas at the Gurudwara Ber Sahib by head granthi Bhai Surjit Singh Sabhra followed by distributing portraits to the visiting sangat.
Speaking to the media, MLA Cheema hailed the Sewa Sankalp Society’s initiative to promote environment and religion in a unique way on the lines of Guru Nanak’s teachings.
Vice-president of the Sewa Sankalp Society Harpreet Sandhu said the portraits would be distributed among the masses to make them aware of the need to conserve environment as well as taking them close to Sikhism. He said the Sewa Sankalp Society’s motto was ‘Sewa Da Sankalp’ and they were reaching out to people of all ages, religions and castes to come forward and join them to make the world a better place to live. — TNS
