Sweety (21), an inmate of Pingla Ghar, who had come here at the age of five, got married to a Ludhiana-based boy at a glittery ceremony here today.
The entry gate to the inner hall of the palace was decorated. Inmates and attendants were dancing to the tunes of Punjabi songs and were enjoying the food.
Sweety, who has done a course in stitching, was surrounded by her friends and officials. They immediately went outside after listening to the drum beats and music on the arrival of baraat.
Happiness and nervousness were palpable around her. The girl was emotional as she would be leaving her Pingla Ghar family. She said, “I am excited too as I feel that I will get the same love at my house which I got here. My initial years of life might have been worse, but I have forgotten my past due to love that I am getting now.”
She was all decked up as a pretty bride and was meeting her in-laws cheerfully.
Amarjit Kaur, hostel in charge in Pingla Ghar, was giving all details of various ceremonies that were happening outside. She sat along with Sweety during the marriage function.
Sweety, while getting emotional, said Amarjit Kaur was like her mother and leaving her would be the most difficult part.
Other officials Kanwal Jit Singh and Raj Kumar said for them, this was the happiest moment that Sweety, who had come here years ago without her identity, remained with them. They said Sweety was now going to live her new life and it was truly an overwhelming moment for them.
