Students of Ivy World School, Jalandhar, performed a play, The Sound of Music. It was a live performance with the school choir singing famous songs. The chief guest, Kamal Kishore Yadav, , Deputy Commissoner, Jalandhar and Sanjeev Kalra, ADGP, PAP, Jalandhar, applauded the performance. Members of the Vasal Education Society congratulated the students. Principal S Chauhan thanked parents and performers for their cooperation in bringing the event to a delightful culmination.
Sahodaya inter-school contest held
Shiv Jyoti Public School conducted Jalandhar Sahodaya inter-school slogan writing and poster making competition on its premises. Principal Dr Ravi Suta highlighted the achievements of the school in her welcome speech. As many as 27 schools under the aegis of Jalandhar Sahodaya Complex got themselves registered for the event. The topic of slogan writing competition was "Value erosion-a menace to humanity" and while poster making was themed as "India - my vision". Prof Vikram Singh, department of fine arts, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar and Prof Rekha, department of fine arts, KMV, Jalandhar, were the judges. In slogan writing, the first prize was bagged by Molly Ghai of Police DAV Public School while Manthan of Manav Sehyog School and Simranjeet Kaur of DIPS, Begowal, grabbed the second position followed by Jaahnvi of Shiv Jyoti Public School and Roshni of Lala Jagat Narain DAV Model School for the third position. Sharandeep Kaur of DIPS, Mehatpur and Tanvi Joshi of DIPS, Tanda got the consolation prize. In poster making competition, Apoorva of Shiv Jyoti Public School stood first, Deepak of Lala Jagat Narain DAV Model School, bagged the second position while Sakshi Jain of Innocent Hearts School and Daman Preet from DIPS, Bhogpur, grabbed the third position. Lakshmi of DIPS, Surranussi, and Shiwangi Jaura of Kamla Nehru Public School got the consolation prize. Krishna Jyoti, chairperson, Varinder Sabharwal, general secretary and Dr Usha Kapoor, member of the managing committee along with trustees BB Jyoti and RRP Sharda were also present on the occasion. Principal Dr Ravi Suta congratulated the winners.
Extension lecture
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, in view of the importance of digitisation in modern India and increasing competition in this sphere organised an extension lecture on "search engine optimisation" for students of BVoc in management and secretarial practice under Kaushal Kendra Scheme. The speakers of the day were Karan Arora and Varun Nayyar from Itronix Solution. Students were given knowledge on various aspects like virtual tour, "google my business", creation of websites, search engine optimisation and others. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi said such exposures help students go a long way in their profession.
Commanding officer interacts with NCC cadets
Commanding Officer of Punjab Battalion, Jalandhar, Col Harinder Singh, visited Guru Amar Dass Public School on November 22. He interacted with Principal Manpreet Kaur Bhogal, administrative officer Avinash Kaur, school ANO Maninderpal Singh and NCC cadets of the school. He also interacted with the cadets and asked them about their experiences of attending the NCC camps and parade sessions. Colonel Singh also visited the Sikh Multimedia Museum in the school and planted saplings in the school lawn. President Ajit Singh Sethi welcomed the officer with a bouquet and presented him with a memento as a token of respect. He applauded the efforts of the school management and the NCC wing in the smooth functioning of institutional activities of the NCC in the school.
Poster and slogan writing
Sakshi Jain from Innocent Hearts School, Green Model Town, bagged the third position in poster making competition organised by Jalandhar Independent School Sahodaya. The contest was organised at the Shiv Jyoti School Jalandhar. As many as 25 schools participated in the competition with the theme "India, my vision". Director principal Dheeraj Banati congratulated the girl for winning the prize. He also appreciated the contributions of Sakshi's mentor, Mona.
Online painting contest
Gurpreet Kaur of BA (third year) from Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, won a scholarship of Rs 26,000 in an online painting competition. Students from all over India had sent their works in the online competition which was arranged by the SD Ahuja Foundation, Kolkata. Only 18 students were selected who won a scholarship of Rs 26,000 each. Gurpreet Kaur was the only one from Punjab to win the prize.
