Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has failed to provide information under the RTI Act within stipulated time. The information sought regarding installation of electricity meter on bogus documents was not provided even three months filing the application.

Applicant Anil Verma from Tajpur Village in Jalandhar filed an application under RTI Act on June 6 in order to seek information regarding a meter in the same village that he alleged got installed on bogus Schedule Caste certificate to get concession in the bill. The information was sought from Sub-Division Officer, PSPCL, Badshahpur.
Speaking to the Jalandhar Tribune, Anil Verma said, "After filling the RTI, I visited the PSPCL office at Badshahpur several times to inquire about the status, I got nothing except false promises."
"Meanwhile, I am planning to take up the matter the State Information Commission", said Anil.
Speaking on the issue, Gopal Sharma, Deputy Chief Engineer, PSPCL, said if such a case has come up, the applicant must approach the higher authority adopting proper procedure. The information provider officer must get penalty for being failed provide information under RTI Act within stipulated time.
