Hoshiarpur, January 5
To prevent accidents occurring due to dense fog, the 31 municipal bodies in the Jalandhar region have started a novice step to put reflective radium belts around the neck of stray cattle and stray dogs.
Regional Deputy Director, Local Bodies, Barjinder Singh, said the project would start from January 7.
He said these belts reflect light and emit light in the dark so the animal wearing it would be easily visible to motorists.
“All nagar panchayats and councils in Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Nawanshahr have procured these belts from a Ludhiana-based NGO and these belts have reached the respective offices of nagar panchayats and councils. These are harmless for the animals,” he said. — OC
