Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV) has started “Prayas,” a retail outlet of KMV products on the college premises to provide a platform to the students to showcase their creative abilities. Prayas is a joint endeavour of Gandhian Studis Centre, Women Studies Centre and students of the KMV. It aims to develop all kinds of entrepreneurial and managerial skills of young girls to carve a niche in the world of business for themselves. Various products displayed and sold at Prayas are: T-shirts, coffee mugs, designer kurtis, designer dresses, decorative and ornamental items, pickles and confectionery items, college bags, woodcrafts, paintings and greeting cards. Principal, Professor Atima Sharma, lauded the venture.
Annual Day celebrations
Annual function was held on the premise of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji Public School, Sarhali, on December 8. The function was organised by Harminder Singh Samra, president, Raghbir Singh Chahal, director and Jatinder Kaur, Principal of the school. Pargat Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. He gave away prizes to students, who excelled in academics and other activities. Students presented many dance performances, plays and skits to entertain guests and showcase their talents.
English debate
Students of Kamla Nehru Public School, Chak Hakim, Phagwara, took part in the Inter School English Debate Competition held at State Public School, Jalandhar. Fifteen teams of different schools participated in the competition. Vasu and Tarun of KNPS bagged the running trophy with a cash prize of Rs 2,100. Principal of the school, PK Dhillon, honoured the students. She motivated all students to become good orators.
Cake mixing ceremony
Hotel management students of CT Institute of Hotel Management, Jalandhar, organised a cake mixing ceremony on the premises of the institute. Students prepared pre-mixture for cakes in which a variety of dry fruits, which had been soaked in wine, brandy and rum for a fortnight, were used.
Cakes with Christmas theme were prepared on the occasion. The event was organised as precursor to the Christmas eve. Rohit Sarin, Principal of the institute, said cakes were baked mostly in December. Cakes were very important in this festive season. Speaking on the occasion, Charanjit Singh Channi, chairman, CT Group of Institutions, appreciated the efforts and participation of students. He said these types of events enhanced the skills and confidence of students.
