Rohu fish seeds to keep ponds mosquito-free
Nawanshahr: ADC (Development) Davinder Singh has launched an initiative under which rohu fish seeds have been poured into ponds of three villages - Singhpur, Sahungra and Karawar of the district to keep them mosquito free.
Seeds of two thousand fish in each of these three ponds have been poured.
ADC cum Chairman, District Fishery Development Agency said these ponds would be observed for at least 20 days and if the experiment remains successful, it would be replicated in other villages of the district.
The fish seed would not only help in keeping the mosquitoes away, but would also give a fillip to the commercial activity by encouraging fish farming.—OC
