A year-long row between the gurudwara and a Wakf Board over a land today ended as the legal possession was handed over to the latter in the presence of the police.
Enough police force was also deployed in and around the land when the Wakf Board team arrived to take possession of the land.
Notably, on January 17, tension had prevailed over the land adjoining gurudwara in Central Town after the gurudwara management refused to hand over the possession. Gurudwara management had then showed a stay order of court following which the Wakf Board team had to return empty handed.
Sources said, “Ownership of the land, which is situated juxtapose to the Central Town gurudwara, was being claimed both by the gurudwara and Waqf Board. Both the parties had been fighting a legal battle in court over the land.”
