Jalandhar: The Nobel School celebrated ‘Basant Panchami’ on its premises on Monday. Songs and poems were sung to seek the blessings of ‘Goddess Saraswati’. Students and the staff welcomed the season by tucking yellow flowers on their uniform. Kite-flying was the star attraction of the day. The Chairman of the school, CL Kochher, Principal, Meenakshi Mehta, along with staff members were present on the occasion.
MGN School
MGN School, Adarsh Nagar, celebrated ‘Basant Panchmi’ with enthusiasm. Students were dressed in yellow and orange colour attires. A drawing and kite-making competition was held to mark the festival. The students were shown slides on the smart class related to Basant. Children worshipped ‘Goddess Saraswati’.
Eklavya School
Basant Panchami was celebrated at Eklavya School. The celebrations commenced with the Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati .This was followed by a group song by the educators on ‘Hey Sharde Maa.’ Students brought home-made traditional yellow- coloured dishes to mark the occasion. The students also enjoyed kite-flying. The chairperson JK Gupta extended warm wishes to everyone. Seema Handa, director, threw light on the importance of the festival.
DAV College
‘Havan’ marked Basant Panchami at DAV College. Principal Dr Sanjeev Kumar Arora welcomed students and apprised them of the significance of the festival. He said, Haven was the path that leads to salvation and made the air clean. Members of the managing committee, among others, were also present on the occasion.
Innocent Hearts School
Innocent Hearts School celebrated Basant Panchmi with gaiety. Teachers came in yellow attire and children adorned themselves with yellow ribbon bows. The school was decorated with small kites. The importance of the festival was highlighted to the students. They took an oath not to use Chinese string to fly kites. They were explained that spring season brings along change in the weather and flowers grow everywhere. Dheeraj Banati, Director Principal, addressed the assembly.
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), celebrated Basant Panchami with gusto. Students and staff members dressed in yellow added to the brightness of the celebrations. Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the students and the faculty. Students and faculty of the Department of Music sang songs in praise of Goddess Sasaswati.
CT Group of Institutions
Basant Panchami was celebrated at CT Group of Institutions with great fervor. The excitement of the festival was visible among the children of CT Public School as they entered the school with colourful kites. The management, students and teachers flew kites together. Principal Suman Rana acquainted the children with the importance of the festival. She said the spring brought with it a sense of hope.
19 students get jobs
19 students of Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus got placement in Axis Bank. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director of the institute, congratulated them and the Training and Placement Committee. The students thanked him and Varun Nayyar, Training and Placement officer of the institute.
Psychometric testing programme
A one-week Faculty Development Programme on ‘Psychometric Testing’ was inaugurated at DAV University on Monday. The programme was an initiative of the Department of Psychology aimed to teach counsellors, psychologists, teachers, teacher trainees, and other professionals about the administration, scoring, and interpretation of various psychometric tests like intelligence, personality, aptitude, attitude and projective tests. Dr Umed Singh, former Prof from the Department of Psychology of Kurukshetra University, was the resource person on the occasion. He held four sessions to explain and demonstrate Raven’s Standard Progressive Matrices and Jalota’s Mental Ability Test.
Winners of youth fest honoured
Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, honoured the winners of North Zonal Youth Festival here on Monday who represented Apeejay College of Fine Arts. Students of the Department of Music participated in different competitions. Students of the Department of Theatre made the mark of excellence in one-act play, skit, mime and mimicry. Students of Fine Arts also garnered glory in various competitions. Principal Dr Sucharita Sharma lauded the untiring efforts of Dr Amita Mishra and Dr Arun Mishra. OC
