Jalandhar: Students of Cambridge International School and Cambridge International School for Girls, Jalandhar, grabbed various positions in the CBSE North-Zone-II Chess Tournament, held at DAV Sonipat, from October 6 to October 8. In under-19 (girls) and under-11 (girls) the school clinched first position and in the under-14 (girls) it won second position. Students of Cambridge International School, Jalandhar, under-17 (girls) and under-11 (boys) grabbed first position. The school has been the North Zone Champion for three consecutive years.
Int’l Day of Girl Child
A number of activities were conducted at the Innocent Hearts (GMT, Loharan and CJR) where the importance of women empowerment was emphasised to students. In addition to that, the changes in their bodies according to their age were also told. Tips were given to students regarding sufficient food and necessary nutrition, required by their bodies, to maintain good health. On the occasion, a movie, “Komal”, directed by the CBSE, was screened for students and the meaning of ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ was explained by teachers . Girl students were told that they must set a time table keeping in mind the maintenance of ‘health and hygiene’ to ensure that they consume sufficient amount of fruits and vegetables.
Wildlife Week
The Department of Zoology, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, celebrated Wild Life Week (from October 2 to October 8) under the guidance of Principal Ajay Sareen. Seema Marwaha, the HOD Zoology, extended a floral welcome to Sareen. Different activities were organised including essay writing competition, slogan-writing competition, poem recitation and a slide show on wildlife and its conservation. A short documentary on significance of wildlife and its conservation was also shown to bring awareness among the students as they could take creative measures to conserve wildlife. Principal Sareen appreciated the efforts of the department and inspired students to do such programmes in future.
