In a UCO bank ATM loot case, city police will also probe the role of bank officials and employees of the security company managing the affairs of ATM.
UCO bank ATM located in posh area GGS Avenue containing over twelve lakh was looted by miscreants on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jalandhar Sandeep Kumar Sharma said police would inquire the role of bank officials and the role of security company employees controlling the operations of ATM.”We are not holding bank or Security Company responsible at this stage but their role will be probed to complete the investigation. Soon the officials of both the establishments would be called for questioning” DCP added.
Asked if any suspected persons were rounded up for questioning, DCP said, police teams were working over to get any clue about the thieves but as of now, no suspect was rounded up for questioning.
DCP said, police has been telling banks to keep day and night security guards at ATM but banks are not cooperating.
Notably, after the two ATM loots in the jurisdiction of Sadar police station, DCP had also conducted meeting with the bank officials and directed them to appoint security guards to prevent occurrence of any such incident in future. Police had also issued notices to the banks to keep security guards but most of the banks were not following the directions.
