Hoshiarpur, August 21

In a fire incident at a gurdwara in Dihana village on Tuesday, five copies of the Guru Granth Sahib were burnt. Gurudwara committee chief Varinder Singh told the reporters that at 11 am, the fire broke out due to short circuit at the first floor of the gurdwara building.

The locals, however, controlled the fire by throwing water, but by then already 5 copies of the holy Guru Granth Sahib laced in ‘Sukhasan’, were burnt. The burnt copies were sent to Kiratpur Sahib under the supervision of ‘Punj Pyare’ from Sri Anandpur Sahib.

In the meantime, MLA Dr Rajkumar Chabbelwal visited the gurudwara and sought the details of the incident from gurudwara committee members. He promised every possible help to meet the damage due to fire.—OC
