Jalandhar, March 8
An International Conference – 4th UKIERI Concrete Congress under the umbrella- Concrete: The global builder was held at Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar which concluded today.
The congress was organised in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, UK and Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. The UKIERI concrete congress was organised to discuss all aspects relating to concrete’s current and future contribution as how we build the established and develop living world.
The six conferences comprising the congress were designed to cover a wide range of issues reflecting concrete’s versatility, relevance and potential for future exploitation.
The congress honoured Professors Tom Harrison (UK); Jorge de Brito (Portugal); Mahesh Tandon (India); Manamohan Kalgal (India); Peter C Robery UK) and Prof Roger P West (Ireland).
The opening ceremony was held on March 5 and the award ceremony was held on March 7.
The Director of NIT Jalandhar, Prof Lalit K Awasthi; principal of GNDEC Ludhiana, Prof Sehijpal Singh and congress chairman, Prof R K Dhir gave away the medals and certificates.
In all 25 opening and keynote papers and over 210 research papers were presented with nearly 220 delegates from 17 countries attending the congress.
