Throwing light on the burning issue of addiction of chitta (heroin), a senior journalist, columnist and author Ashok Bhaura released his self-composed song “vilkda Punjab” here on Thursday.

Currently residing in the US, he said, “The scourge of drugs has engulfed the youth, it is very important to channelise their energy.”

He along with other members of the ‘Ikki International Entertainment Inc,’ an American channel, launched a YouTube channel called ‘Aajkal’to promote Punjabi culture and songs.

Bhaura also said, the Punjabi songs are now-a-days losing their sheen. They are promoting only violence and are objectifying women. Through Aajkal channel, only the songs pertaining to the real Punjabi cultural would be presented and any youth could contribute to it.

Meanwhile, the singer of the audio track, Bunny Baidwan narrated the lyrics of the song and said, “Chitte di mar pe gayi har passe yaar, chitta chat ke hi kha gya Punjab nu”, best describes the current situation. It’s saddening to see how the youth are losing their lives at the hands of drugs. The song was directed by Amolak Singh.
