Special screening of audio-described movie ‘Hichki’ today

NGO Saksham will organise a special screening of audio-described Hindi movie “Hichki” at Devi Talab Temple on Thursday at 10:30 am.

The audio description of movie “Hichki” has been done by Saksham with the complete support from private firm Sapient. Till today Saksham has made special efforts for the audio description of 27 movies from 2004 onwards. Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma will be the chief guest for this event.

“Films are an integral part of our culture and society. They are an effective medium of disseminating information on various subjects like history, mythology, politics, science, technology, sports, and so on. Yet there is a section of society which is deprived of this enriching experience of cinema,” says Deepika Sud, who runs the NGO.

She added, “Once society accepts that the visually-impaired persons rely on cinema for their dose of amusement, myriad ways of making cinema accessible can be explored and used to make the medium inclusive.”—TNS
