The recent transfer orders issued by the Health Department to Medical Superintendents of the ESI hospitals are not being followed by the doctors concerned. The doctors have refused to move after three days of issuing the orders.
Dr Inderjit Kaur, (MS), who was working at the ESI Hospital, Ludhiana, is learnt to have put in her papers as she does not want to move to Jalandhar as per the orders.
Dr Mandeep Kaur, who has been working as an MS at the ESI Hospital, Jalandhar, was ordered to moved to Amritsar, is still working in Jalandhar, which is her hometown.
She has requested to the higher officials of the hospital to reconsider her transfer.
Dr Inderjit Kaur and Dr Mandeep Kaur have been given extension and they do not want to get relocated at this juncture of their career.
The SMOs, who, too, are on extension, also learnt to have shown their stance on not attending the hearing of the court on the ground of their ill-health.
Most of the senior doctors who are discharging their duties at the ESI Hospital are MBBS. The ESI hospital has been facing the shortage of nursing staff. There are 25 sanctioned posts of nurses, out of which nine have been filled.
There are eight posts of pharmacists, three of which are vacant. There are 83 posts of Class IV employees, of which 53 are vacant.
The road from the gate to the entrance of the building is in a dilapidated condition.
Dr Mandeep Kaur, MS, said: “We have requested to the state government to fill the vacant posts as soon as possible for the smooth functioning of the hospital.”
