The college was decorated with beautiful lights, ‘torans’ and ‘diyas’. The day began with a floral welcome of chief guest Dr Harjinder Dilgeer, an aminent historian of the era; guest of honour Kamaldeep Singh ‘Kamz’, DDA Phillaur; and Dr. Ramandeep Singh Kinra, special guest of the day, by college principal Kiranjeet Randhawa.

The tagline for Diwali celebrations was “Green and serene Diwali’. A bunch of green balloons was flown by guests and the college principal to mark festival. It had Diwali wishes on it and a message to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali to make earth a better place for the posterity. Competitions such as ‘rangoli making’, ‘diya’ and candle decoration were conducted by the Fine Arts Department. Students drew various patterns of ‘rangoli’. ‘Diyas’ of various sizes and shapes were painted and decorated by participants.

In candle-decoration competition, glow sticks were decorated with unique items which enhanced its beauty. Winners were appreciated by the principal. After the competitions, students danced on their favourite tracks. Refreshments were served to the staff and students.  Everyone was in a festive mood and enjoyed to the fullest.

The principal advised students to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali. It was essential to avoid crackers as these caused pollution, aggravate the problems for people suffering from cold, allergies, cough and can also caused congestion of throat and chest, the principal said. Crackers also caused water contamination and acid rains. Fire accidents are common due to cracker bursting. A small spark is enough to set anything ablaze. Bursting of crackers might bring transitory happiness to us but there are other living beings around us, less privileged, lacking the ability to communicate the way we do. It includes our own pets, who are impacted by bursting of crackers. So, we all must go for a green Diwali by using traditional lighting of earthen lamps, drawing eco-friendly rangolis, avoid the use of plastic packing, donate sweets and clothes to needy people, put aside your phones, log off from social media and spend time with your family and friends, said the principal. Staff and students lauded the precious views of the principal and expressed their gratitude towards her for arranging such memorable celebrations for them.
