Sulakhan Sarhaddi, Mohan Sharma to get Kewal Vig Award on Dec 4

Noted Punjabi poet Sulakhan Sarhaddi will be honoured with the Kewal Vig Award as the “Best Poet” for his dedicated contributions in the sphere of Punjabi ghazal. Mohan Sharma, who penned down 19 books in Punjabi literature and started a campaign against drugs abuse through his six books, has been selected as the “Best Writer”.
Jatinder Mohan Vig, chairman of the Kewal Vig Foundation, said that the Kewal Vig Memorial Award was instituted in 1994 in the memory of Kewal Vig, founder editor of Punjabi magazine “Janta Sansar”. “These awards are presented every year on his death anniversary. The presentation ceremony this year will be held on December 4 at KL Saigal Memorial Hall in Jalandhar. As many as 51 personalities of literature have already been recipients of this award so far,” he said.
Sulakhan Sarhaddi is a well known writer, who is dedicated to improve the present status of Punjabi ghazal and its technique. Mohan Sharma, as a writer, feels strongly for the state’s drugs situa0tion and has written six books on how to save Punjab from drugs.
