A sweet shop owner today commited suicide by hanging himself in a hotel room at the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Harvinder Singh, a resident of Guru Nanak Pura.
The police sources informed that Singh was under acute depression from the last many days after his parents disowned him due to some family feud. Singh had left his home last month and checked in at Lilly Resort as a press reporter of a TV Channel. He informed the hotel staff that he came here to meet his boss.
Sources further revealed that Singh used to come down for morning newspaper every day.
