Students of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, bagged the first, second and sixth position in BSc (Medical) semester II exams. The results of the exam were recently declared by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Preeti bagged the first position by securing 670/800 marks while Ranjit secured 2nd position 664/800 in the merit list. Jagdeep stood sixth with 650/800 marks in the merit list. There are six more students of the class who secured their place in the merit list. Results: Gurneet of HMV Jalandhar bagged the first position in BCom (Hon’s) semester VI examination by scoring 82 per cent marks. Saloni stood 3rd after scoring 78 per cent marks in the university. Seminar on legal awareness

To spread awareness among the students on legal issues and process, a seminar was organised at Lyallpur Khalsa College by the Legal Aid Club of the college. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Justice Gurmeet Singh Tiwana, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Jalandhar, who informed the students about various legal issues pertaining to them. Speaking on the occasion the college principal Dr GS Samra said there is a need to spread more awareness in this regard as many people in society were still in dark about their legal rights, adding that the organising this event was one such step in this direction. On this occasion, a poster making competition was organised in which over 50 students participated.

Students of Rayat Bahra College shine

Students of Rayat Bahra Institute of Management secured positions in the merit list of PTU. Prof Anju sood, vice-principal of the college, said every year PTU prepares the merit list on the basis of marks secured by the students in the semester examination. Students securing top 10 positions are placed in the merit list. This time 13 students of RBIM secured positions in the merit list. Taranjot Kaur Deol of BCA bagged the second position in her third semester exams. Kuljit Kaur of BBA secured second position in her first semester exams. Sonia Rani Rattu of BBA scored 84.92 per cent marks in her forth semester exam held in April 2015 and bagged third position in the merit list of PTU. Ritu Rani secured third position in the merit list by scoring 92.33 per cent marks in the BCA fifth semester examination held in November 2015.

Inter-house swimming competition

Delhi Public School, Jalandhar, conducted an ‘Inter House Swimming Competition (VI-XII)’ on August 5 for boys and girls. Students participated in 50 m back stroke, 50 m free style, 25 m back stroke and 25 m free style. Derrick Ohri, Samay Sobti and Soham Kaur were the best performers. — TNS
