Several long-route trains are running behind schedule, causing inconvenience to passengers.
If the Railways officials are to be believed, many trains are not maintaining their time-table either due to fog or operational reasons. Passengers have been facing harassment without any sign of improvement for the past over 15 days. Officials say half a dozen trains were rescheduled and many others were running late for the past many days due to operational constraints.
Passengers on the Amritsar-Jalandhar-New Delhi section had to bear the brunt of erratic rail traffic as Intercity Express, Shatabdi Express and Shane-Punjab trains were also running behind schedule of 50 minutes to two hours.
The 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar Saryu-Yamuna Express and 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express were cancelled for a day before, while for today these were running behind the scheduled time. Six other trains — 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express (19.25 hrs), 15212 Jan Nayak Express (18 hrs), 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express (2.45 hrs), 12054 Amritsar-
Haridwar Janshatabdi Express (1.25 hrs), 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express (2.15 hrs), 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express (1.15 hrs) and 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar Intercity Express (2.10 hrs) — were also running late.
Passengers were found making a beeline at the inquiry counters and sitting on the platforms, waiting for trains for hours. They also complained that the online apps were showing the arrival of trains at the right time, whereas the situation was completely opposite when they arrived at the station as the same trains were late for many hours.
