Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences is organising Transcon 2019, the 44th national conference of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology, on its campus.

The academic event will span over three days, commencing from November 1. A pre-conference workshop will be held by organising team on Thursday covering all the facets of blood transfusion from donor to patient and from basics to the most advanced technology, including the importance of voluntary blood donation, immunohaematology, quality management systems, regulatory requirements, optimal usage of blood, cellular therapies, therapeutic aphaeresis, transplant immunology and clinical transfusion practices.

Director Principal Dr Kulbir Kaur said: “The theme of the conference is “Connecting the Drops of Life: Past to Future”. She said, “Not only connecting the drops of life but the conference will also connect experienced as well as budding transfusion medicine specialists and clinicians of national and international repute”.

More than 600 faculty members and delegates from across the country will participate in the conference. The event will provide an opportunity to all stakeholders to showcase their products at the exhibition. This will also help in generating awareness among concerned people regarding the latest products required in the field.
