After ordering a probe into the go-kart accident in which an eight-year-old girl received grievous injuries on her skull while enjoying a ride at Joyland amusement park in the Cantonment area on Saturday, a two-member inquiry team established by the Jalandhar Cantonment Board official today visited the victim, Anhadpreet Kaur.

The team comprising Sanitary Suprintendent Surjit Ram and Tax and Revenue Suprintendent Rajinder Sharma today recorded the statements of the minor’s parents. During the incident, the victim’s hair got stuck in the groove of the go-kart, thereby ripping off her scalp from her head along with her hair.

She was rushed to a private hospital near Football Chowk, where doctors after operating upon her put 35-40 stitches on her head. The victim, who is still under observation, was stated to be recovering. The doctor, Dr RPS Chabbra, said the patient was brought in a serious condition as the internal parts of her head were visible. Now, she was out of danger and would recover shortly.

Meanwhile, Jalandhar Cantonment Board chief executive officer Jyoti Kumar said: “The probe team will submit its report this week and further action against the amusement park contractor would be taken after the arrival of the report. If the contractor found guilty of any deviation in the prescribed safety guidelines, strict action would be taken. A written letter has also been sent to the contractor to register his explanatory statements within three days.”

Pointing towards the security lapse on the part of the father of the child who was riding the go-kart, Kumar said operators at the Joyland told him that the victim was not wearing the helmet. Whereas , Paramjit singh, a resident of Babu Labh Singh Nagar, claimed that the operators did not offer helmets to them. Wishing only the well being of his daughter, Paramjit did not register any complaint in the matter.
