To mark the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev, members of a UK-based charity oganisation, “Midland Seva Society (MLSS)”, on Saturday announced to open its franchise in Punjab. The society, started with the aim of providing basic services to the destitute would widen its nets of support throughout the country. The project has been named as “Guru Nanak Asra 550 (GN550)”, under which a multi-purpose building is set to accommodate around 250 underprivileged people of all age groups.

Midland Seva Society CEO Randhir Singh said their first such building would come up in Jalandhar and its construction had already been kicked off at Subhana village. “As per its mission to serve humanity, the charitable foundation will rehabilitate orphans, elderly, homeless and people with physical disabilities. The charitable building in Subhana is likely to be operational on the day of Gurpurb so that outsiders visiting the holy city get accommodation here.”

To ensure individual health and care of the beneficiaries, there would be appropriate arrangements of psychiatric assistance, physical help and holistic therapies, added Randhir. Apart from that, all poor and needy children would be provided education under the GN550 project and people encouraged for learning new skills and trade.

For medical treatment of the beneficiaries residing in the GN550 building, retired medical experts would visit India and hire medical teams for the 24-hour medical assistance of the rehabilitated destitute.
