Valentine’s Day fever is in the air as the city seems to be pulsating with excitement and activity in anticipation for the day. But white, not red seems to be the colour for the occasion this year except in choice for heart-shaped soft toys.
Traditionally, red is the colour associated with Valentine’s Day. Besides several other new things are being tried this year.
Simar, of Dance and Act academy, has taught a new dance called ‘Enjoy Dance’ to many girls and boys. Talking to Jalandhar Tribune, he said, “I have devised this dance as it gives a lot of fun and pleasure to the dancing couples.”
Couples usually go out for parties and decide to celebrate the day together. Basically, people had a myth that couple dance is the first choice of youngsters but actually they love dancing on rocking beats with not only their partners but with friends too, he added.
Another new activity witnessed this year is many friends and students had organised parties and celebrating the days which include chocolate, rose, teddy etc with their friends and families.
A student of XIth class, Seerat Kaur shared, “I have decided to celebrate and dedicate the day to my dad. I am making the arrangements and will gift my dad a cellphone.”
Many florists shops have also sprung up in view of the huge demand for flowers. Some have put up tents along busy roads and can be seen selling flowers and bouquets. And even many roadside sellers had come up with beautiful stalls selling soft toys and greetings.
Hotels, markets, bakeries and other shops have been lit beautifully to celebrate the day. Large crowds of youngsters are visible in markets, buying gifts for their loved ones. Gift galleries selling personalised greetings, frames, coffee mugs and bed sheets that have pictures of their friends and loved ones engraved on it are also finding many takers. “There is huge demand for heart shape soft toys with personal picture engraved,” said one of the shopkeepers. These gifts galleries are in demand and are doing good business.
Ritika, another resident said, “This valentine, as always, I am dedicating it to my own self. I will celebrate the day accordingly, and dress beautifully. I will buy gift for my own self and later join friends for the party in evening.”
