Jalandhar, May 12
The Kapurthala police today claimed to have solved the murder of a 25-year-old watchman and arrested three persons in this regard.
The body of the watchman was found lying on the premises of Lawrence World Public School in Rasulpur village, located on the Jalandhar-Kapurthala road, on May 4.
The nabbed accused are Amandeep Singh, alias Amna, Deep Singh, alias Deepa, and Amandeep Singh, alias Totla. All are residents of Dhupai village in Kapurthala.
Sources said the victim, Kaka, was engaged as a watchman in the school, situated near Punjab Technical University (PTU). During daytime, Kaka was also working as a helper in a veterinary hospital.
The matter came to fore when Kaka couldn’t join duty at the veterinary hospital on May 4 and when hospital employees came to the school to inquire the matter, they found him lying in a pool of blood on the school premises.
Police said acting on a tip-off, the role of these three had come to light and they were rounded up. During interrogation, the accused admitted that on May 3, the trio had gone to drink liquor near the school premises, but school watchman Kaka stopped them from doing so. In anger, they hit Kaka on the head with an iron rod and a baseball bat and killed him. The accused also snatched the ATM card of Kaka and Rs 1,500.
“We also recovered Rs 1,000 and the ATM card of the victim from the accused,” the police added. — TNS
